Dr. Borghaei earned his degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a residency at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. Since completing his fellowship training at Fox Chase, he has been involved in a number of clinical trials aimed at developing new, antibody-based therapies and immunotherapies for patients with lung cancer.

In addition to his clinical practice and participation in immunotherapy-based clinical trials, Dr. Borghaei is the principal investigator (PI) of a laboratory that develops new monoclonal antibodies and novel immune-modulating drugs, with the aim of bringing these approaches to the clinic. He served as the PI of a phase III randomized study that proved the effectiveness of nivolumab in the treatment of patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer after progression on prior chemotherapy. This work led to the approval of nivolumab, one of the first immunotherapy-based drugs to be approved for lung cancer in this setting.

Dr. Borghaei is a member of the thoracic core committee at Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) and, until recently, was a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer panel. He is the recipient of an American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award and an ASCO Career Development Award. Dr. Borghaei is a long-standing member of ASCO, AACR, IASLC, SITC and ECOG thoracic committee.

Dr. Borghaei has been a recipient of the Robert Krigel Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence from Fox Chase Cancer Center, ASCO’s Young Investigator Award and the Career Development Award from ASCO. His work has been published in The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology, The Lancet Oncology, Leukemia Research, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, Clinical Cancer Research, Clinical Lung Cancer, and Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

Prof. Janja Ocvirk was born in Ljubljana 1966. She finished Faculty of Medicine , University of Ljubljana, she pass Master’s degree and Doctor’s degree. She is Medical Oncologist at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana and Professor in Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). She is Consultant in Medical Oncology, Head of Melanoma Multidisciplinary Team, Head of Department for medical oncology at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana. She is principal investigator of many international clinical trials in colorectal cancer, gastric cancer,  melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers, immunotherapy  and principal investigator/co-investigator of more than 10 investigator initiated studies. She published more than 100 siencific papers, some book chapters.

Dr. Maximilian Hochmair is a Head of Respiratory Oncology Unit at Karl Landsteiner Institute of Lung Research and Pulmonary Oncology, Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Vienna North Hospital, Austria, and one of the leading Lung Cancer experts in Austrian and Central Europe. Among many studies, he is also the principal author of GioTag trial that investigated sequence of afatinib followed by osimertinib in treatment of EGFR-positive NSCLC patients.

Dr. Maya Gottfried is an expert for lung cancer, known worldwide for immense clinical and research experience. She is an outstanding and dedicated lung cancer researcher and has been participated in countless clinical trials, international and national, many of them as national principal investigator.

Dr. Gottfried is a board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Radiotherapy and did a fellowship in medical oncology at the Institute of Oncology, Gustave-Roussy, Villejuif, France.

Since 2010 Dr. Gottfried is the head of Oncology Institute at the Meir medical center in Israel.

She is a member of several associations such as the ASCO, ESMO, ISLAC, European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) and the Israel Society of Clinical Oncology & Radiotherapy (ISCORT).

Additionally Dr. Gottfried is a member of scientific committee and advisory board – ICACT (Anti cancer treatment)

Prof. Miguel Gorenberg is the Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Bnai Zion Medical Center, Haifa and is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology.

Assistant Professor Mirjana Rajer, MD, PhD graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ljubljana in 2001. She works at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana and for two years she worked at University Clinic Golnik, Slovenia. Her main clinical work consists of treatment of lung cancer and mesothelioma patients. Beside clinical work, she is involved as principal and co-investigator in several clinical trials of lung cancer, palliative care and communication with cancer patients. She is the editor of national and international journals and author of numerous published papers, book chapters and books; of the most noticeable is the book “New challenges in communication with cancer patients” published by editorial house Springer, where she is one of the co-editors and authors. Being a student’s mentor, she is actively involved in education and she acts as active member of research organizations EORTC, ESMO, IASLC and Central European Initiative against Lung Cancer.

Dr. Mor Moskovitz (MD) is a senior medical oncologist at the thoracic oncology service and phase I service in Rambam Medical Center, Haifa, Israel. Dr. Moskovitz main research interest is lung cancer, and she is involved in all phases of clinical trials, as well as local and national research projects, including the lung cancer national registry, as part of the Israeli lung cancer group.

Dr. Moskovitz Graduated (cum Lauda) from the Technion faculty of medicine at 2008, and completed residency in medical oncology at Rambam medical center. She was trained as a clinical fellow in thoracic medical oncology at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto 2016-2017,  and currently work as a senior medical oncologist at the thoracic oncology service and phase I service in Rambam, clinical lecturer at the Technion faculty of medicine, member and treasurer of the Israeli lung cancer group, and member of ASCO and IASLC.

Dr. Nasser is visiting instructor in the faculty of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He obtained his Medical Degree at Hadassah School of Medicine of The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and an internship in medicine at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer, all in Israel. After that he studied at the University of Haifa the mechanisms of cancer resistance in the subterranean blind mole rat, and obtained a Ph.D. degree, Summa Cum. 

Laude. Dr. Nasser then completed a Residency in Medical Oncology at Shaare Zedek Medical Center and then went on to his Radiation Oncology Residency at the Davidoff Center, Rabin Medical Center all in Israel. He then attended PSI Winter School for Proton Therapy at Paul Scherer Institute, Switzerland, and received the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) palliative care observership which he completed at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio.

He completed a genitourinary radiation oncology fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Canada, and a Brachytherapy Fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer. Most recently he completed an American Board of Radiology Alternative Pathway program for certification in radiation oncology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Prof Nir Peled, MD PhD FCCP is Associated Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Ben-Gurion University, Beer Sheva, Israel. He is a Pulmonologist and Medical Oncologist. Prof Peled is the Director of the Cancer Center at Soroka Medical Center. Previously he was the head of the Thoracic Cancer Unit and the Center for Precision Cancer Care at Davidoff Cancer Center at Rabin Medical Center. In addition, Prof Peled is the head of the Thoracic Oncology Assembly of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the Chair of the Early Detection & Prevention Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology (IASLC), the Journal of Global Oncology (ASCO) and the Framingham program in Immuno-Oncology.  Prof Peled focuses on the wide clinical and translational perspectives of lung cancer and studies specifically the biomarkers of lung cancer, personalized based medicine in lung cancer and Immuno-Oncology.

Prof Peled has graduated medical school, as MD PhD, Cum Lauda degree, at the Rappaport Faculty of medicine, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel at 1994. Thereafter, he served as a physician in the Israeli Defense Forces until 1998. At 2003 Prof Peled has finished Internal Medicine residency at Rabin Medical Center, Tel-Aviv and at 2007 he has been certified as an expert Pulmonologist in the same institute.

Focusing on Lung Cancer, Prof Peled has started his third residency in Medical Oncology at Davidoff Cancer Center, Rabin Medical Center, Tel-Aviv University, Israel, and continued his education focusing on Lung Cancer at the thoracic program at the University of Colorado Cancer Center under Prof Paul Bunn and Prof Fred Hirsch as a Fogarty Fellow (Fulbright Scholar). Thereafter, he has established a unit for translational studies for thoracic malignancies in Israel, which became the biggest and the most active in Israel with more than 400 new advanced lung cancer patients every year.

Prof Peled has published more than 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts mainly in the field of lung cancer and other pulmonary diseases, wrote several book chapters and a reviewer for numerous international journals. During 2010, Prof Peled has achieved the MERIT award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO); at 2008 the “IASLC Fellowship/Young Investigator Award“; and at 2007 he received the “Young Investigators Honorable Mention Award” by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).  Prof Peled is collaborating with the top opinion leaders in the field of lung cancer and highly active in international committees and conferences in the field of lung cancer.

Ofer Sharon, MD is the CEO of OncoHost Ltd. a clinical stage precision oncology company combining blood based proteomic analysis and powerful machine learning tools in order to predict response to immunotherapy and provide clinicians with potential combinations strategies to overcome treatment resistance and improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Sharon is a physician and entrepreneur with close to 20 years of experience in clinical and commercial product development for startups in the health tech, biotech, and medical device industries. Prior to joining Oncohost, he served multiple roles in global pharmaceutical companies including Medical Director for AstraZeneca (Israel), new technologies scout for Medimmune and Medical Director for MSD (Israel). He co-founded several healthcare companies, mainly focusing on bioinformatic and machine learning platforms for clinical deterioration detection and early intervention.

Dr. Shani Shilo founded in 2014 the first patient organization for the fight of lung cancer in Israel. Her husband was diagnosed in July 2011 with stage 4 lung cancer at the age of 43, a never smoker.  Through her personal journey, understanding the great need for having a sharing lung cancer community, support and information needed, having the face and voice of lung cancer families seen and heard, Dr. Shilo decided to make a difference.

Dr. Shilo is a former dentist, holds a PhD in biochemistry, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a postdoctoral fellow experience from Ohio State University, USA. Before founding the Israeli Lung Cancer Foundation, Dr. Shilo was engaged in the biotechnology industry in research and development areas.

Solange Peters, MD, PhD, is full professor and chair of medical oncology as well as the thoracic malignancies programme in the department of oncology at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland. She received both her doctorate in medicine and PhD from the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland. After completing her clinical education in medical oncology and molecular biology in Switzerland and Italy, Professor Peters has specialized in thoracic tumors, lung cancer, and pleural tumors.

Professor Peters is currently in charge of teaching and patient care in the area of thoracic malignancies in the department of oncology of Lausanne University, where she is building a translational program in collaboration with the molecular oncology laboratory directed by Dr Hanahan at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and the Ludwig Institute. Professor Peters’ main fields of interest are new biomarkers discovery and validation in preclinical and clinical settings, multimodality strategies for locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as well as cancer immunotherapy.

Professor Peters’ current research projects are focused on multimodality stage III NSCLC treatment strategies, immunotherapy in limited small cell lung cancer and advanced NSCLC and thymic malignancies, ALK inhibitors, HER2 inhibitors, as well as innovative immunotherapy combinations and new immunomodulating treatments across thoracic malignancies. She acts as the local principal investigator (PI) for lung trials opened at Lausanne Cancer Centre, focused on phase I predictive biomarkers and thoracic malignancies immunotherapy, and is a co-PI of several other trials. Additionally, she acts as the scientific coordinator and Foundation Council member of the European Thoracic Oncology Platform.

Professor Peters has authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, and serves as deputy editor of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, associate editor of the Annals of Oncology and on the editorial board of several other oncology journals. Professor Peters is active in the educational programs of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), notably working as the current editor of the ESMO lung cancer clinical practice guidelines. She is the past-Chair of ESMO Women for Oncology Committee, and she is the youngest ESMO President ever, for a mandate in 2020-2021. She was also a member of the IASLC board of directors, and vice president of the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research lung group.
